LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA Rock City Gardens gets acclaimed recognition as “top seven wonders.” The recent release of the new Seven Wonders of the World has spawned many publications across the country to announce their favorite destinations. Rock City made the “Seven Wonders of the South” list by The Norman Transcript, out of Norman, Oklahoma. However, this is no new accolade for the 75-year old tourist attraction. For decades Rock City has been tagged as the “World’s 8th Wonder.”
Rock City was quoted by The Norman Transcript as being “beautiful, quiet and nostalgic.” Millions of travelers have taken the well-known phrase “See Rock City” to heart and visited the 4,100-foot walking trail since founders Garnet and Frieda Carter opened the 15-acre preserve to the public in 1932.
Just six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Tenn., Rock City features a 100-foot waterfall, an overlook with the legendary, panoramic view of seven states, and a swing-a-long bridge that spans nearly 200 feet, offering thrilling views to the adventurous souls who cross it.
Rock City is open daily for self-guided tours, with extended hours through Labor Day from 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.seerockcity.com.
